I have painted the sea for as long as I can remember. Having grown up in Cornwall, the waves and rugged coastline got under my skin. A sense of awe and inspiration from the coast has never left me and continues to inspire my practice today. The sea has this ability to take me beyond myself - to look beyond and look up and imagine a new world. Painting for me is as much reflective of a desire to paint an interior world or the “sea within” each one of us. My work strives to be as much a reflection of an inner landscape as it is the outer world.
